As I glanced at my holiday celebrations for the week, I was stopped in my tracks to realize something pretty cool – they all go together! I suddenly imagined the perfect kind of tandem celebration for all of the holidays at once and decided to try something new. This week each day’s post will be part of the summer picnic holiday collection; a series, if you will. Check back every day this week to get a deeper dive into the picnic that we enjoyed today under cloudy 4th of July skies as I reveal the holidays that were built into our plans. I hope that these two pictures pique your interest because there’s more where that came from. Eric and I are back up in Portland with no plans for the fourth besides Eric’s Skype date for Minecraft and my list of suggested documentaries to watch on Netflix. We took a slice out of our obviously busy day to snag holiday inspired picnic materials, settle on a beach towel in the green, grassy park blocks outside of our apartment, and snap a plethora of pictures. The first course on my loaded paper plate was a big bite of caesar salad for today’s holiday. The store bought dressing doesn’t come close to my mom’s homemade recipe, which is forever on my list of top favorite foods, but it will do in a pinch. Check back tomorrow for part two of the week-long summer picnic series. Happy holidays!
